| Media release: 27 August 2009 | | Every household in Cardinia Shire will soon receive a special offer with their rate notices – a voucher for a discounted annual parking pass at Emerald Lake Park.
The $10 annual parking pass is available to all residents in the Shire and represents a saving of more than 70 per cent off the regular annual parking fee of $40.
Chairman of the Emerald Lake Park Advisory Committee and Ranges Ward Councillor Ed Chatwin said he was pleased Council could again offer discounted parking at the Lake, to encourage more people to enjoy its facilities.
“Emerald Lake Park is a wonderland of activities for families with paddleboats, a seasonal children’s wading pool, model railway, great walks, the cafe and tearooms and free picnic barbecues and new playground equipment.
“Puffing Billy is another popular part of any day at Emerald and the parking passes are a bonus for these days too,” said Cr Chatwin.
“The vouchers mean the car can be parked at the lake while the family while the family arrive on Puffing Billy for a picnic,” added Cr Chatwin.
All Cardinia Shire ratepayers will receive a voucher to apply for a parking pass valid to 31 August 2010.
Payments can be made at Cardinia Shire Council Offices (Henty Way, Pakenham) EFTPOS, cheque or cash accepted, or at Emerald Lake Park café (cash only) or at the Model Railway (cash only).
Applicants are required to relinquish the voucher and provide some form of identification (such as their drivers’ licence or rates notice) when they purchase their pass.
