| Media release: 21 August 2009 | | Casual Chef will conduct two FREE workshops for parents, carers, grandparents and children associated with St Patrick’s Primary School, Pakenham Consolidated School, Pakenham Hills Primary School and Pakenham Springs Primary Schools on 25 August.
Erik Jorgensen, Victoria’s number one healthy eating facilitator, will present the workshops are part of Council’s Go for your life Being Active Eat Well Program.
They will be include basic cooking rules, recipes, planning meals in advance, grocery shopping hints and maintaining a healthy pantry and fridge.
The program was funded by the Department of Human Services and Department of Planning and Community Development.
“Healthy families build healthy communities and Council’s aim is to spread the word on cooking with fresh and healthy ingredients at home,” said Marie Witts, Go for your life Project Officer at Cardinia Shire Council.
“We are conscious that many families are rushed for time and regard cooking at home as too time consuming, too expensive and too complicated.
“These workshops highlight how easy, quick and economic home can be,” Marie added “and how healthy.”
Parents can book for either session by visiting their school office.
The Casual Chef Free Workshops will be held: 2pm, Tuesday 25 August, Pakenham Consolidated Primary School 6pm, Tuesday 25 August, St Patrick’s Primary School
