News>Have your say – disability access and inclusion
| Media release: 18 August 2009 | | Council is looking for community members to participate in the review of the Disability Access and Inclusion Policy and Implementation Strategy.
Community Strengthening Officer Karen Vanderkaay said the Review is about sharing information and providing the community with an opportunity to provide vital input.
“Many people are interested in disability, access and inclusion issues and we hope a range of residents and business people will contribute to the review - local traders, service providers, sporting clubs, teachers and residents, they are all encouraged to put their hand up,” said Karen.
“Constructive feedback guides Council in its decision making and we aim to ensure the needs of the community are identified by the Disability Advisory Committee.
Cr Graeme Legge, Chair of the Disability Advisory Committee, said one action of the policy is that community members are kept informed of progress on the implementation strategy.
“Council is proud of the achievements it has made to improve disability access and inclusion in the Shire and it is now time to identify what else can be achieved.
“I invite interested Community members to contact Council’s Community Strengthening team and register their wiliness to join the Review,” Cr Legge said.
For more information or to register your interested in participating in the review process by contacting Council’s Community Strengthening Unit on 1300 787 624
