News>New water tanks for Nar Nar Goon riders
| Media release: 14 August 2009 | | Cardinia Shire Council and two local businesses have come to the aid of the Nar Nar Goon Pony Club who recently had their water tanks stolen from Yarrabubba Reserve in Nar Nar Goon.
Cardinia Shire Council Mayor and Bunyip Ward Councillor Bill Pearson said the replacement of the tanks will enable the two clubs based at the reserve, the Nar Nar Goon Pony Club and the Nar Nar Goon adult riders club to continue to operate.
The two clubs were devastated last week when the tanks were taken and Council was keen to assist to get them up and running again.
“With no other water sources for the reserve, the provision of these tanks will allow drinking water to be used and more importantly will allow toilets to be used,” he said.
Cr Pearson said Nylex and Water Dynamics had answered the call to assist really quickly.
Two 5,000 litre tanks were installed on Thursday (13 August).
Nylex has supplied one tank free of charge.
Council will purchase the second tank at a cost of $1,100.
Water Dynamics installed the tanks free of charge and supplied the pipe work needed for the installation.
“This is a real great example of how business’s can lend a hand and support the local community,” Cr Pearson said.
With the tanks installed the riders will be back in the saddle this weekend.
