Based on the phenomenally successful children’s classic, “There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake”, written by Australian author Hazel Edwards and illustrated by Deborah Niland, HIPPO! HIPPO! A BIG NEW Musical Adventure! is coming to the Cardinia Cultural Centre in June.

HIPPO is the imaginary friend of GIRL, a young child. GIRL believes that HIPPO lives on the roof and can seemingly do anything he wants, when he wants, how he wants, particularly the things that GIRL is unable or not allowed to do.
Through HIPPO, GIRL is able to allay her fears and gain confidence in her early childhood years. Joyful and brimming wonderment, HIPPO! HIPPO! A BIG NEW Musical! will make you laugh and maybe even make you cry, but most of all, it will steal your heart away!

Through storytelling, music, song, dance, puppetry and imagery, this classic tale about one of the largest and most famous imaginary friends ever will burst onto the stage in its world premiere Australian tour. Brought to you by the producer of Possum Magic, Wombat Stew, My Grandma lived in Gooligulch and Stripey – The Emu Chick!

Garry Ginivan Attractions is well known for transferring popular literary works for children into quality musicals that can play anywhere from the biggest concert hall in Australia to an intimate venue in a regional country town.

HIPPO! HIPPO! A BIG NEW Musical Adventure! is double the fun for everyone and another hit touring musical by Garry Ginivan Attractions, produced for the stage in association with Shows for Schools.

"If Elvis was alive, he'd be doing Max impersonations" - The Sunday Mail

"Max Pellicano is the closest thing you'll get to the real 'King'.....sheer entertainment. You will be amazed" - San Francisco Chronicle

He was one of the most important figures of the 20th century pop culture. Now the memory and legend lives on in a very special concert event entitled "The King in Concert” starring one of the world's first and most-successful Elvis impersonator Max Pellicano, whose uncanny resemblance and equally chilling performance has mesmerised Australians over the last two decades.

It has been said by Media worldwide that Max Pellicano's tribute Elvis To The Max goes beyond mere impersonation. Critics have described his performances as "Elvis resurrected" and 'reincarnated'. His recreation of "The King" looks, moves, vocal style, impressions and humour is so accurate, its awe-inspiring.

You need to sound like the real thing and Max Pellicano has worked hard at that. Not only is the voice important, it's also knowing how to become the man himself on stage. In addition, the costumes worn by Max Pellicano are exact replicas made by Elvis' personal tailor Bill Bellow.
