Alternatives to hard waste collection

Most items put out for hard waste collection ends up in landfill, which impacts the environment and wastes resources.

Options for dealing with items you no longer need:
Sell it
Have a garage sale or use an auction website such as eBay or QuickSales.

Trade it or give it away
Use a website such as ReUse Moose, Casey Freecycle, Freecycle Melbourne, Gumtree (Cardinia area) or Yoink it at Yoink!

Give it to charity!
Diabetes Victoria will pick up items for free.
VisitCouncil's community directory for local charities in the area that might also accept goods.

Recycle your e-waste
Bring it to the e-waste recycling day.
Visit the Federal Government's E-waste Portal for more information.

Recycle it
Our new recycling service allows pots and pans, and even plastic toys, to be placed in the yellow lid bin. So now there's even less need to send broken goods to landfill.
