Beautification program 2015–16

Eligible individuals and community groups are invited to apply for funds for landscape enhancement projects on areas of public open space within Cardinia Shire. We supply funding on a dollar-for-dollar basis and up to a maximum of $2,000 (including GST) for each application.

You can match the amount requested from the program with the cost of your labour used for site preparation, planting and ongoing maintenance. The grant covers the purchase of plant material, stakes, tree guards and mulch. We will consider other landscaping materials such as street and park furniture as a lower priority.

Applications close Monday 29 February 2016 and we will not consider late applications.

Projects must be finished by 30 June 2016.

Preference will be given to projects that:

  • involve community groups
  • relate to high profile areas used by the general public such as town centers, recreation reserves halls and parks
  • improve the appearance of green, public open spaces
  • align with beautification priorities identified throughout Council strategies such as township strategies and landscape master plans.

If the project is to take place on land not managed by Council, permission from the relevant land manager e.g. VicRoads, VicTrack or the Crown Land Department must be obtained.

An online completion form will need to be submitted by successful applicants once the project is completed. Receipts for the materials used and a photographic record of the project are to be attached to the online form.

Note: grants will not be made to proposals linked to vegetation removal permit conditions or where funds may be obtained from alternative sources.

We will not consider retrospective projects.
