There are a growing number of services advertising they can solve your financial problems, however, it is recommended you get advice from Government funded financial counsellors. Financial counsellors are based in community agencies and provide information, support and advocacy that is free, independent and confidential. The Victorian Government offers State School Relief through the provision of school clothing, shoes and other essential items. Families may be eligible for the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) and/or a free uniform pack for their children. The Department Of Human Services offers assistance to low-income households suffering a short-term (within last 12 months) financial crisis who are unable to pay for a current utility account or LP gas account and who are at risk of disconnection, restriction of supply, or non-supply of gas bottles.
