We support over 560 volunteer not-for-profit groups in a range of areas. We work with staff who volunteer for community groups, progress associations, halls, neighbourhood houses and township committees, just to name a few.

In May each year, as part of National Volunteer Week, Cardinia Shire's Mayor hosts a volunteer reception at the Cardinia Cultural Centre to recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of Cardinia Shire volunteers.

Volunteer database

Our database provides you with an opportunity to recruit volunteers by listing vacancies and options for volunteer positions.

If your not-for-profit organisation is looking for support from Cardinia Shire's many willing volunteers, or you are a member of our community looking to help out in a volunteer capacity, the database may help.

It is a free service to not-for-profit organisations that operate within the Shire or that service Cardinia Shire residents.

Subsidised training

We offer a volunteer training program which is provided by local neighbourhood houses, community centres and Universities of the Third Age (U3A) each term at a subsidised rate (conditions apply).

The following courses will be available throughout the year:

  • food handling
  • basic bookkeeping
  • first aid and CPR
  • various computer courses.

For details of available programs and fees and to apply for a subsidised place, please contact the relevant training provider directly.

List or update your organsation in our online community directory

Our online community directory provides access to hundreds of not-for-profit and community groups, including sporting clubs, 'friends' groups, health and wellbeing groups. The directory offers one free listing to not-for-profit community groups and organisations operating in or servicing people in Cardinia Shire. To request inclusion, submit your organisation's details online or via email.
