State and Federal governments  Printer Friendly

The structure of government in Australia is based on a tripartite, or three tiered system.

Under the Australian Constitution the Federal government, based in Canberra, is responsible for a range of matters and the various State governments also have their specific areas of responsibility.

The Federal government is represented locally by the electorates of Flinders, Latrobe and McMillan.

For more information on the Federal government refer to the link below.

The State government is represented locally by the Legislative Assembly seats of Gembrook and Bass.

Additionally at the State government level Cardinia shire is located partly within the legislative provinces of Eummemerring and Western Port.
