The structure of government in Australia is based on a tripartite, or three tiered system.
Under the Australian Constitution the Federal government, based in Canberra, is responsible for a range of matters and the various State governments also have their specific areas of responsibility.
The Federal government is represented locally by the electorates of Flinders, Latrobe and McMillan.
