CFA Book Launch at Emerald Secondary College
Thursday, 26 November 2009
2:00 PM
Written by local author Jean Hayne the work of fiction 'Night of the Butterfly' is recommended reading by CFA Victoria and Cardinia Shire Council.

The story takes the reader into the world of young Samantha Stanmore, an 11 year old country girl who lives for her horse, her best friend Sebastian and the bush they live surrounded by. Home alone when a firestorm hits, the youngsters have to make their own way to safety.

Readers will come to appreciate the internal turmoil and subsequent courageous actions that force the protagonist to make decisions and take actions way beyond her years. They will also gain an understanding of how helpless, desperate and even guilty other family members and friends can feel not knowing if their loved ones have made it to safety. Then the healing begins.

CFA Chief Officer Russell Rees will be in attendance.

500 copies have been donated to youth in bushfire recovery areas.

The book can be purchased at the event for $20.00.
